Recruiters Exposed
It is often said that there is no better source for counter-recruiters than the military itself. Below is a list of some resources you may use that expose recruiters tactics and strategies:
- Read USAREC's guidelines for Army recruiters and how they are instructed to manage a successful School Recruiting Program. Found online in September 2004, this document sheds enormous light on the tactics used to forge better relationships with school officials in order to promote the military and generate a maximum amount of leads for potential recruits. Our favorite quote from this document is "school ownership is the goal". Download the 12 page pdf and use it in your counter-recruiting efforts.
- Read through the enlistment contract yourself and find out the disclaimer right before your eyes on page 2, section C. 9(b): "Laws and regulations that govern military personnel may change without notice to me. Such changes may affect my status, pay, allowances, benefits, and responsibilities as a member of the Armed Forces REGARDLESS of the provisions of this enlistment/reenlistment document." Download the 4 page pdf and explain this to those considering enlisting.
- Read this article by Mike Ferner called 'Sign Here Kid' that was featured in our January 2005 issue of The Objector Magazine. Learn about Jimmy Massey, a former Marine recruiter now working with Iraq Veterans Against the War. Take me there!
