| Rarely do you come across an MC who uses lyrical ability as a method to convey an underlining message with both concrete conceptual strength and cemented arguments about society, politics, racial issues, Hip Hop as a culture and Revolution without corporate compromise. But such is the case with Immortal Technique. Born in a military hospital in South America, his family came to the United States to escape the culturally devastating inflation and poverty that came as a direct result of economic imperialism caused by a collaboration between a corrupt US backed puppet democracy and corporate forces.
Since the age of 5, he has lived in Harlem-surrounded by Hip Hop culture-and so began to freestyle with friends at a young age. As he progressed to battling and writing rhymes, Technique's style began to evolve. Technique`s battle style is comprised of brutally disrespecting his opponents, and his conscious, intelligent, yet relentlessly uncompromising underground lyrics. After attending Penn State University for two years studying as a film major, Technique was incarcerated over a physical confrontation that was initiated by a local white male. Rather than talk to the DA and live in shame, Tech found an attorney who got the felony dropped to a misdemeanor and dropped the 3-5 to a 1-2 year sentence for the assault charge. In prison for a year, Tech became a machine of physical fitness and a battle MC rivaled by none. Since his return from hell, he has used his refined lyrical abilities to destroy the competition at a series of underground venues, including Downtime Battles, Braggin` Rites, Da Cypha Battle, and hookt.com`s infamous MC battle. He also devoured his way into the finals of Rocksteady in 2000 where he tied at first and then lost in an overtime round by split decision. And most recently in September of 2001, he won the Rocksteady battle sponsored by FatBeats. Most recently Technique recorded and pressed up over 2,000 copies of a full length album entitled, "Revolutionary Vol.1". The 59 minute creation is complete with a couple of powerful guests, interludes and a sick intro. The 16 track album is digitally Mastered and also features a hidden joint that will have people focused across the country. The astonishingly precise, politically charged cover art is also an eye opener that catches people`s attention. But it`s the conceptuality of the LP and the sick beats that makes this an underground classic. The Revolution is in full swing. Immortal Technique has a hot joint called 'Revolutionary' which is featured on the AWOL CD VOL. 2 track #13. |
